| Jan Mansell and Liz Collins of the Mansell Running Club completed this years half marathon raising and amazing £1000 for ASBAH, below is an account of their day. |

Congratulations goes to Jan and Liz on their fantastic achievements in this years half marathon.
Not satisfied with gaining very respectable times (Jan 2:27:49 and Liz 2:44:22) for completion, they went on to raise over £1000 for ASBAH (The Association for Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus) Mansell Recruitment Groups nominated charity.
Liz recalls the day for us below...
"We managed to get parked close to the Quayside in Gateshead, and made our way over the Millennium Bridge into Newcastle, to where the Run starts, and had a good warm-up walk for about 40 minutes, so were exhausted just getting to the Zone areas to drop off our bags. As we moved closer, we could see hundreds and hundreds of runners making their way to the start. Everybody was in good spirits and there was a warm up DJ getting us all prepared by putting us through exercises. We got in line and set off at a slow pace, and eventually crossed the start line in a gentle jog. After 20 minutes we were set in our own paces and going for it! Lots of bands playing and bongo drums beating along the streets to keep everybody going. Jan finished in 2 hours and 27 minutes whilst I crossed the finish line at 2 hours and 45 minutes and was greeted with a full pint of ice cold LAGER.....Beautiful!
