Senior Engineer, IP Network Design & Build

Day Rate Contract to start immediately

Anticipated contract term is 6 months commencing Oct 19

Location; Winchester, Hampshire, UK

The Company

Our client, a UK telecommunications company that provides infrastructure and broadcast transmission facilities, commercial WiFi and smart meter facilities, is undertaking a major business transformation program which will include the replacement or reengineering of a large part of its existing business (BSS) and operational support system (OSS) and underlying IT Infrastructure estate.

The Role

The technology, services or products this role will support and any specific programme or initiatives it will be part of;

· Working with colleagues and stakeholders across Media Networks to identify IP network solutions to connect customers and their services to the client's network

· Define high and low-level IP network topology for customer services showing network topology, equipment, IP addressing, VLANs required to support connectivity for the customer and their service

· Produce configuration to be loaded onto new and existing routers and switches

· Support integration of new router/switch equipment into the Client's OSS systems and complete handover tests/documentation to Operations

Must Haves

· To be able to lead and influence medium and large-scale IP project design acting as Network Design Lead

· Through understanding of networking routing protocols to include but not limited to VPN, BGP, ISIS, OSPF, BFD and SSMPv3

· Communicate any business or technical risks in a clear manner to stakeholders

· Maintain and improve design documentation for services as required

· Any working patterns required such as travel, shifts, flexible working, on call

· Install, test, analyse, troubleshoot and modify new equipment/solutions to achieve maximum performance and availability

· Provide technical expertise in the development and deployment of service infrastructure, driving improved technical and service performance

· Design and drive processes to facilitate smooth and seamless deployment of new services

· Supervise the delivery of 3rd party suppliers and contractors to ensure that delivery specifications and standards meet the Client's requirements

· Standardise equipment to minimise disruption and achieve straightforward integration with existing networks/infrastructure

· Document engineering build procedures and contribute to the continuous improvement of policies, processes and procedures

· Contribute to accurate forecasting and capacity management

· Provide technical leadership within the team, sharing knowledge and skills and providing mentoring support to engineers and technicians

· Adopt the role of Design Authority (DA) in area of expertise to ensure the delivery of the end to end customer solution and for less complex projects Lead Design Authority (LDA)

Reward

The anticipated contract pay rate for the candidate that meets all of the requirements will be from £400 up to a maximum of £450 per day worked inclusive of any travel and accommodation expenses (if working away from home base)
