The minimum salary offered for this position is £25,000 pa however the client may pay up to £29,000 pa to those candidates who can meet all key qualifications and abilities

The Role

Emergency Support - field repairs and maintenance:

· Diagnose and rectify new and re-occurring problems.

· Maintain products when required.

· Give on-site training to regionally based engineers whilst visiting.

Installations and commissioning:

· Commission new products

· Identify weakness in installations and advise customers when changes in services are required.

· Prove product performance

· Train operational staff and development of local engineers

· Sign off by customer

· Complete trip report and update of call logging database

· Oversee Installation of products

High tech product support - Current supported models

· Emergency support

· Routine maintenance

· Product support

· Operator/maintenance & engineer training

· Modification(s)/upgrades to product(s) as directed

· Produce trip reports with follow on actions, (to be tracked to completion)

Customer/Agent relationships:

· Provide technical advice/support

· Take ownership of field issues assigned and track to completion, escalating if progress stalls.

· Provide support to other departments

· Record of customer requirements and or requests

· Escalate issues if the customer is unhappy

· Timely updating of call-logging database

· Write technical reports

· Systematically report installations

Application tests - for specific geographical areas

· Applications proving/application developments.

· Application tests on customers products and specific contracts

· Carry out product demonstrations for customers.

Support to Agents

Product support:

· Liaise with agents engineers, solicit feedback on product issues relating to product durability, serviceability or reliability.

· On-site support for first time installations of new equipment + training

· Support new products and act as interface with relevant function

· Keep confidential any product-related problem

· Apply modifications when necessary

· Report progress


· Full understanding of quality principles

· Contribution to the development of the Sortex quality system

The Candidate

Electronics Engineering Degree or equivalent

3 years field support experience including coaching/training/leadership

Sound electro-service environment experience

Practical knowledge of Linux and Microsoft Windows systems (PC hardware and networking experience

Electronic fault-finding down to board level

Able to read technical drawings
