The Company

A high integrity scientific instrumentation manufacturer. Due to expansion looking to take on a Production Planner to join their team.

The Role

Responsible for creating, modifying and maintaining the production plan ensuring that customer delivery commitments are met.

Agree forward schedule requirements with Sales, Production and Buyer to meet business needs (S&OP).

Load the agreed forecasts for all products onto the company ERP system.

Working closely with the Buyer, ensure that materials and parts are available to meet customer demand / forecast.

Load and generate Works Orders (WOs) onto the ERP system, in line with the agreed forecast and demand.

Closedown completed WOs to Stock for onward kitting or despatch, ensuring that the WO costs are as expected and have been processed correctly.

Work closely with Buyers and Production Engineers to ensure that all ERP parts are set up correctly to optimise availability and stock holding.

Maintain accurate planning parameters of all parts / BOMs.

Maintain accurate Bill of Materials (BOMs).

Ensure all planned work supports on-time delivery of product.

Support the business by producing monthly and ad-hoc reports as required (e.g. stock accuracy, on-time deliveries, slow moving stock, inventory holding).

Work with Design Engineering to plan new product introductions.

Support Design improvement meetings and manage the introduction of ECNs, ensuring stock continuity without over stocking.

Deputise for the Manufacturing Support Engineer (e.g. creating new part numbers and BOMs).

Responsible for Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems administration, including month end reports and housekeeping.

The Candidate

A qualification in Supply Chain Management would be a distinct advantage (e.g. Diploma, IoSCM course or relevant Degree).

At least 5 years planning experience working in an electro-mechanical production environment.

At least 3 years experience using both MPS and MRP modules of an ERP system.

While not essential, the following experience would be a distinct advantage:

Strong knowledge and experience of MRP / ERP systems and the ability to quickly learn complex software applications.

In-depth knowledge of raising and processing Works Orders and associated stock transactions through ERP/MRP systems.

Process literacy; defined as the ability to understand and manage processes involved in moving materials and sub-assemblies through production to finished goods.

Computer skills, including ERP/MRP systems and the MS Office suite.

Excellent planning and organising skills.
