The Company

Our West Sussex based client is a leader in the design and development of energy saving technology.

They require a Test Operations Manager to be responsible and accountable for all Test Operations and to ensure the test needs of the business are met against cost, quality and delivery targets for both on and off-site testing.

The Role

· Responsible to maintain the highest levels of safety in Test Operations

· Develop and execute a Test Department forward strategy in line with the business plan

· Provide direction and leadership to Test Department.

· Ensure effective communication in all regards including issue of timely, clear and precise test reports.

· Overseeing new equipment design, procurement and build.

· Seek to standardise, simplify and improve efficiency and effectiveness whilst reducing waste

· Define and manage Test Department budget. Develop business cases to support and justify improvements or capability expansion. Present and champion these to management.

· Maintain clear and accurate test schedules for all major equipment and ensure these are communicated well through the business. Resolve scheduling conflicts and manage priorities.

· Generate cost estimates for bespoke test support to internal and external projects. Maintain clear and accurate standard costs for routine test support to project teams and customers

· Continuously develop people and capability in line with business requirements. Identify department training needs.

· Develop and champion effective KPIs to manage performance and champion world class visual management.

The Candidate

· Demonstrate management experience preferable leading a Test Department or similar

· BSc/MSc or BEng/MEng level in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Physics, Electrical/Electronic Engineering or similar.

· Minimum 5 years experience within an product test or development environment.

· Strong Program Management and organisational skills, a track record of delivering to deadlines

· Strong leadership skills and the ability to drive and motivate a team.

· You will have strong technical, problem solving and communication skills.

· Sound understanding of a Test Departments role in product development projects and developing robust verification and validation plans.

· Hands-on experience of testing in a development/industrial environment, preferably gained in the development of thermal systems

· Highly proficient in technical communication and the preparation of technical reports.
