Field Service Engineer - Rail / Vehicles

The minimum salary offered for this position is £40,000 pa however the client may pay up to £42,000 pa to those candidates who can meet all key qualifications and abilities

Our client is a leading engineering company that provides engineering services to a range of the Rail and Commercial Vehicle sectors.

They are currently seeking a Field Service Engineer to cover the north and midlands of the UK. The ideal candidate will be based in Manchester or nearby cities.

The Role:

Provide Field Service support to Mobility products in the Midlands and the North of England.

Quote customers for service work.

To carry out diagnostic repairs at customer premises.

Carry out transmission changeouts and disconnections at customer premises.

Give assistance to sales staff on technical aspects of Mobility products.

Ensure all tooling and equipment is within calibration dates.

Develop and maintain good working relationships with customers and their representatives.

Interface with Mobility Sales and commercial department to share field service opportunities to increase sales for Mobility.

Work together with the customer to minimise downtime.

Complete stocktakes in line with company plan.

Carry out work within the companys workshop facilities as and when required.

Carry out PDIs to ensure completion within 6 months of entry into service

To train other team members with product knowledge, where possible.

Occasionally work unsociable hours as requested and to fulfil the job requirements.

The Candidate:

Come from a mechanical engineering and service background, with experience in Commercial vehicle (HGV, LGV, PSV and other commercial vehicles) or Rail industry

Experience with transmissions, engine, intelligent drive systems and related equipment

Working on their own initiative will be a key element as they will be working under the supervision Service Supervisor, but in different locations

Excellent communications kills as they will be liaising with customers on a daily basis

Good IT skills for diagnostic work and supporting reports

A clean driving licence is required

The Package:

Offering up to £42k, plus bonus (up to 7%), private medical, private dental and 6% employer pension.
