The minimum salary offered for this position is £40,000 pa however the client may pay up to £45,000 pa to those candidates who can meet all key qualifications and abilities

Our client is a leading engineering company that manufactures electronic solutions used within the medical and scientific sectors. They are going through a strong period of growth. They are looking for an Environmental, Health & Safety Specialist to join their growing team.

The successful candidate will be required to execute and facilitate their environmental health and safety program portfolio for their facilities in the United Kingdom and Ireland with the goal of eliminating injuries and incidents, preventing property loss, and minimizing impact to human health and the environment. Responsible for EH&S at multiple facilities and supervising consultants that support the EH&S mission

Responsibilities include:

Lead planning, authoring, establishing, implementing, maintaining, and stewarding of occupational health, safety, and environmental programs. Advise on local EH&S requirements. Ensure that they comply with applicable laws, regulations, and standards.

Acts as the subject matter expert on safety issues and requirements for identified locations.

Ensures strategy, policies and programs are integrated and reflective of local and regional sites.

Advise EH&S requirements during construction projects to ensure safety is considered and incorporated into facility design.

Partner with business leaders to lead safety-forward culture changes aligned with business needs.

Respond as a leader to emergencies and incidents.

Champion safety and participate in safety committees at a facility level.

Coordinate and conduct site safety inspections and audits. Identify and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices in the workplace and implement corrective actions.

Develop and conduct site-specific education and training.

Perform hazard assessments including job hazard assessments and audits with business leaders and prepare comprehensive recommendations for corrective action to eliminate or minimise potential hazards.

Ensuring the chemical inventory list is maintained and the SDS library database is kept up to date.

Assist business partners with reporting incidents, near misses, or hazards. Lead incident investigations, recommend corrective actions and track items to closure.

Steward and facilitate site-specific emergency action plans.

Interfaces with outside agencies such as the fire department, emergency response teams, and local/ regional health & safety officials.

Manage consultants for identified locations.

Essential Skills and Experience:

5+ years of environmental health and safety experience in a manufacturing and / or R&D environment.

Thorough knowledge of safety practices and requirements in the UK.

Extensive safety risk assessment and auditing experience.

Must have solid EHS experience and skills partnering

Must have experience implementing new safety processes

Must have great people skills with the ability to influence people

Must be a self-starter: identify gaps, get started, and work independently

NEBOSH or IOSHH credentials are beneficial

Package: Up to £45,000 with an extremely competitive benefits package including a 10% discretionary bonus.
