Head of Design

The minimum salary offered for this position is £70,000 pa however the client may pay up to £80,000 pa to those candidates who can meet all key qualifications and abilities

A well-established and successful company specialising in the design and development of advanced technology solutions. Seeking an experienced Head of Design to lead their engineering team and key projects.

Role & Responsibilities Include:

The successful candidate will play a pivotal hands-on role, leading key projects within the business and dealing directly with their customers. The team of software and hardware engineers are led by the head of design. The position involves working as part of a team, both in the UK and internationally, to design and develop products that meet customer needs and demands.

The position will require the successful applicant to design and develop embedded, in conjunction with PC based software, for their new and existing range of equipment both physical and virtual.

1. Microprocessor electronics and peripherals

1. Motorola (NXP or Freescale) Coldfire range

2. ARM (Renesas Synergy and RZA1H)

3. Xilinx PLD, Coolrunner series

4. RAM DDR, SDRAM and SRAM

5. USB

6. Dual port RAM

7. DMA

8. LCD, Epsom and from RZA1H

2. Languages C/C++ and assembler

3. Operating system, ThreadX and NetX

4. Low level debug and analysis, using oscilloscope etc

5. Digital and analogue circuit design

6. Development environments

1. E2 Studio

2. Code Warrior

3. Xilinx Impact

7. Industrial communication protocols, HART and Modbus, etc.

Required Skills and Experience:

Strong project and team management experience

A degree in Software Engineering, Electronic Engineering or a related discipline

Low level embedded development in C or C++ is preferred

Candidates with strong digital and analogue circuit design can be considered
