Our client is a leading manufacturing company that provides bespoke solutions used within a range of industries. They are currently seeking an experienced QHSE manager to lead Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental (QHSE) activities to meet the business objectives.
The Role:
The role includes direct leadership of ISO9001 and ISO14001 activities and accreditations to ensure products, services and internal processes meet contractual and legal obligations. The role also includes supporting the business to maintain and develop its Explosion Protection related accreditations. The role includes the development of the QHSE activities to achieve market leading performance in terms of safety, quality, lead time and competitiveness.
Roles & Responsibilities
Drive the Quality Policy principles into the day-to-day business transactions (internally and externally) through the effective leadership of the Quality Management System (QMS).
Manage direct reports and work with indirect reports within the QHSE teams to ensure all compliance requirements are maintained and adhered to.
Provide QHSE advice and support to the business.
Represent the business from a quality perspective with customers, suppliers and 3rd parties including site visits and involvement in industry committees when required.
Maintain a thorough knowledge of the QHSE standards relevant to the business and ensuring this knowledge is cascaded and embedded into the departments as appropriate.
Support the Engineering Manager to embed ATEX, UKCA and IECEx related standards knowledge and processes into the business as appropriate.
Provide exceptional leadership to ensure a high performing and effective team, embedding a performance focused culture whilst positively motivating all staff. This includes carrying out annual appraisals, regular reviews and producing training and development plans to ensure the effectiveness of the team.
Define, collate, analyse, and report business unit specific performance KPIs to monitor operational success against overall business objectives. Implement actions to optimize KPI results.
Drive a culture of continual improvement using best practice lean principles to increase productivity and reduce operational costs whilst maintaining excellent quality.
The Candidate:
Proven experience of QHSE leadership within a manufacturing company including low volume bespoke assembly, fabrication, and machining activities.
Demonstrable understanding of QHSE principles and their application for business success.
Demonstrable knowledge of ISO9001 and ISO14001 requirements and QMS management.
Proven experience in setting up and driving product or process improvement programs internally and across a supplier base.
Proven experience in leading problem-solving activities; establishing root cause and interim and long-term corrective actions.
Proven experience of auditing internal business processes and 3rd party suppliers.
Proven experience in managing and developing a diverse team with varied skill sets.
