An electronics manufacturer that is looking to expand its team.
This individual is responsible for the timely supply and expedition of raw materials, assemblies, and support services to maintain production.
This position will manage select suppliers to ensure on-time delivery while managing inventory levels to prevent shortages and maximize turns.
Liaising with Engineering, Planning, Sales, and Manufacturing disciplines (team approach), highly focussed on environmental and ethical trading considerations.
The Trainee Buyer will report directly to the Supply Chain Manager.
Preparation and distribution of weekly expedite reports to selected supply chain partners, ensuring that all responses and data are entered into the company ERP system.
Analyses exception messages from the ERP system, and places Purchase orders ensuring cost-effective timely delivery.
Preparation of document packs (electronic) in support of custom part order needs, (i.e., drawings, BOMs, Gerber files) ready to submit to supply chain partners.
Manage selected suppliers to control inventories and ensure a timely flow of material.
Develop a working knowledge of commodities and associated supplier base.
Develop a thorough working knowledge of the required ERP system.
Bring ideas to management and be able to implement necessary process improvements.
Able and willing to work necessary hours to meet all project deadlines, and travel when necessary.
Other duties or responsibilities as assigned.
Responsible for adhering to the Company’s ISO 9001 Quality, ISO14001 Environmental and Health and Safety management systems and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
A good standard of education, and computer literate.
