Junior & Senior Field Application Engineer - Server & Storage Solutions
Field applications engineers are technical support engineers for sales, marketing, design and development activities in technology-oriented companies. A FAE job provides the opportunity to travel, work with other engineers on leading edge designs & technology and seal up design and product contracts. In this capacity, field applications engineers are critical as they suggest new technology and provide different design approaches which make for top selling products.

Job Responsibilities:
As a Field Application Engineer you will be required to initiate, facilitate as well as drive various business problem-solving and process re-engineering projects in collaboration with clients. Forming new or innovative designs in particular application field, making prototypes and demonstrating the application time-to-time to existing and potential users is critical activity. You will also be involved in generating and managing leads on technical requirements from various sources and dealing with potential customers. You would be supporting in customized product / equipment design & developments for customers, providing technical assistance for the same and doing requirements analysis.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Field applications engineers need a wide range of skills and a good technology base to work from. Because field applications engineers provide technical support, sometimes they must give technical presentations, and other times they must actually create or modify designs. They also must be familiar with technical product specifications and be able to point out the specific technical merits of one product over another and do so convincingly. Good customer relation skills are also very important. Because customers want to be assured that the technology is reliable, the field applications engineer must be able to back up technical claims. This often requires that the field applications engineer prepares and presents computer simulations, engineering calculations, research papers, data sheets and company-competitor report as and when needed.
? Field experience or hands-on practice or knowledge of multi-disciplinary server systems
? A broad knowledge of Windows Server and Linux based operating systems
? A working knowledge of Virtualisation & SAN technologies
? Experience working with TCP/IP networking, switches, NICs and routers
? A clean, detailed and clear documentation practitioner
? Well versed with theoretical IT principles and their applications in real life
? Comfortable in dealing with complex, abstract or vague problems
? Ability to effectively communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
? Proficient in latest MS-Office tools, web-usage and web-based tools
? Ability and affinity to respond quickly
? Excellent oral and written communication skills
A successful candidate will also have one or more of the below qualities
? Prior experience working with Supermicro based server solutions
? Design & development experience / skills in - circuit design, PCB design, firmware & software development
? Knowledge & experience of server manufacturing
? Exposure to HPC & Clustering configuration / tools
Qualifications
· Preferred Graduate / Post-Graduate in any engineering or science discipline (e.g. BE / BSc / MCA, etc.) or equivalent experience in a similar role
· Additional technical and professional credentials relating to afore mentioned skills would be added advantage, such as MCP, A+, Linux+, VCP etc
