Senior SMT Technician
The Company
The company has recently invested in a whole new state-of-the-art plant with brand-new machinery and is now looking for a Production Team Leader to help with the expansion plans.
The Role
Reporting to the Engineering Manager you will develop, implement, monitor and maintain, efficient manufacturing processes for all products manufactured in the SMT area. This includes optimising use of machinery and processes, while also defining new equipment requirements and processes.
Duties:
• Responsibility to drive overall productivity, efficiency and quality levels within the SMT area and work with supporting personnel to maximise output and drive continuous improvement.
• Setting up of all necessary equipment and carrying out essential checks before operating the SMT line. Duties will include machine set-up, operation, line maintenance, problem solving, training staff / operators on machine operation and set-up and ensuring correct programming of machines during production runs.
• Checking kitting of SMT parts and Feeder set-up.
• Ensuring Production documentation is maintained and liaising with quality and engineering on SMT issues. Generate any necessary documentation such as drawings, work instructions etc in conjunction with engineering.
• Responsible for developing, maintaining and fine-tuning programming for all equipment used in SMT, related machines employed in PCBA production, including: Screen printer, pick and place, reflow oven and 3D AOI.
• Surface mount inspection, rework / repair. Hand place components (inc micro-BGA’s) where required and able to rework fine pitch/complex components.
• Perform inspection, corrective and preventive actions and other quality assurance related assignments to ensure that the SMT line is producing a high quality product.
The Candidate
3+ years experience as a SMT Technician
Able to set up SMT machines
Work independently, reviewed infrequently with minimal supervision
Ability to lead by example, gain respect from the team and communicate with clarity whilst demonstrating excellence in approach to work and people activities
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to manage a wide variety of activities at the same time
Able to work cross-functionally and collaboratively with many stakeholders
The Package
The salary offered for this position ranges from £35,000 to £38,000 for a candidate who can meet all key qualifications and abilities.
